This antique wash wicker storage hamper is a lidded willow basket with cream faux leather fittings and a removable cotton lining, in three sizes or as a set of all three, with a choice of white or grey sage lining. The medium measures 37 x 25 x 19 cm at 900 g, the large 42 x 30 x 23 cm at 1.3 kg, and the extra large 47 x 35 x 27 cm at 1.8 kg. It is made for linen, clothing, towels and bedroom storage.

The lid is doing more here than keeping things tidy. Folded linen and clothing left in an open basket collect dust, and over a year on a sunlit shelf they fade unevenly along whichever edge faces the window; a closed lid deals with both. It also gives you a flat top, so a hamper can sit beneath something else rather than needing clear space above it. The three sizes step up by 5 cm at a time, which is why the set tends to be bought as a graded run along one shelf rather than as three separate baskets, and the cotton lining lifts out to be washed, in white or grey sage.

Which size should I choose?

Check the shelf depth, since the three run 25, 30 and 35 cm front to back, and the height, since they run 19 to 27 cm. The medium takes folded underwear and small linens, the large towels, and the extra large bedding. The set of three covers a whole airing cupboard.

White or grey sage lining?

White is the neutral, and it shows the antique wash finish off with the most contrast. Grey sage is a muted green-grey that sits closer in tone to the willow itself. It is the same cotton in both.

Why does the lid matter for clothing?

Dust and daylight. Fabric stored in an open basket picks up both, and sunlight is what causes uneven fading along the exposed edge of a folded pile. A closed lid removes the problem entirely.

Does the lining come out?

Yes, it lifts out and goes in the machine. Put it back once it is completely dry.
