This grey wash wicker storage hamper is a lidded willow hamper with a removable cotton liner, in four sizes. The small measures 36 x 24 x 24 cm at 800 g, the medium 47 x 32 x 31 cm at 1.4 kg, the large 60 x 40 x 37 cm at 2.3 kg, and the extra-large 72 x 45 x 44 cm at 3.2 kg. It holds linens, towels, toys, shoes or laundry, with the lid keeping all of it out of sight.

The span across the four sizes is wider than most hamper ranges and worth paying attention to, because the ends of it do quite different jobs. The small is a shelf or bathroom basket. The extra-large, at 72 cm long and 44 cm tall, is closer to furniture: a blanket box at the foot of a bed, or a toy chest that fills a corner. The liner is the other reason to choose this over a fixed-lined hamper. It lifts out, so anything spilled on it goes in the wash rather than leaving you scrubbing at willow. Grey faux leather is used for the fittings at the lid and the side handles.

Which size should I choose?

Think about where it will stand rather than what goes in it. The small at 36 x 24 cm sits on a shelf or under a console. The medium at 47 x 32 cm is the usual bedroom or bathroom size. The large at 60 x 40 cm takes a household's laundry between washes. The extra-large at 72 x 45 cm is a piece of furniture in its own right and needs the floor space to match, so measure before ordering it.

Does the liner come out?

Yes. It is cotton and removable, which is the point of it. Take it out, wash it, and put it back once it is fully dry.

Is the lid attached?

It is hinged at the back, so it lifts and stays with the hamper rather than being a separate lid you have to put down somewhere.

Will it work as a laundry hamper?

The medium and above, yes. It is lined and lidded, so it is best suited to dry washing. If something goes in damp, leave the lid open for a while rather than shutting it in.
