This small 14 inch wicker packaging hamper is a shallow lidded gift hamper basket in split double steamed willow, with black faux leather trim and a removable navy blue lining. It measures 34 x 23 x 12 cm and weighs 500 g, and is bought as gift packaging for food hampers, subscription boxes and wedding favours.

Split willow is used here rather than whole rod, which keeps the walls thin and the empty weight down to 500 g. Twelve centimetres of depth lays a filled hamper out in one layer, so nothing is hidden underneath when the lid comes up. The navy lining is cotton and polyester and lifts out completely.

Splitting the rod lengthways gives a flat band, which weaves into a thinner, lighter wall. That is what keeps a hamper this size down to 500 g.
