A small lidded picnic basket in light steamed willow, full willow for the frame and split willow for the panels, with a tan faux leather fastener and a double hinged lid that splits at the centre. The two handles swing rather than stand fixed.

Set the basket down and the handles fall flat against the sides, so the lid opens without catching on them, and each lid half lifts on its own. It carries lunch for one or two, and does duty as display and small-item storage the rest of the time.

How much food does it actually hold?

The opening is 30 x 20 cm, near enough a sheet of A4, and it is 16 cm deep. That is sandwiches, fruit and a flask for two people rather than a spread for four.

What is a double hinged lid?

The lid is in two halves that meet in the middle, each hinged at its own side. You can lift one half to reach in without opening the basket up, which is useful when it is on your knees or on uneven ground.

Is the leather real?

No, the fastener and studs are tan faux leather. If real leather matters to you, our oval lidded hamper uses genuine tan leather on both of its sizes.

Do the handles stay upright on their own?

They do not, and that is the point of a swing handle. Raise both to carry and they fall back against the sides as soon as you put the basket down, which keeps the lid clear.
