This unpeeled wicker log basket is a round willow log basket with the bark left on the rods, lined in hessian and made in three sizes. The small is 33 cm across and 27 cm high at 500 g, the medium 42 cm and 32 cm at 900 g, the large 50 cm and 38 cm at 1.5 kg, and they hold logs, kindling, toys or bathroom rolls.

Unpeeled willow keeps its bark, so the colour runs from pale buff to dark brown and no two baskets match. Buff rods are mixed in through the weave. Handle heights are 34 cm, 39 cm and 45 cm as the sizes go up.

Why do these vary in colour?

The bark is left on the rod instead of stripped, and bark colour varies by where and when the willow was cut. Buff rods run through the same weave, which is why one basket reads warmer than another.

Is the bark loose?

It stays on the rod through weaving and stays on in use. A little may flake in the first weeks; a dry brush takes care of it.

What base sizes are published?

Twenty-three centimetres across on the small and 30 cm on the medium. Our supplier records no base figure for the large, so we have left it out. Ask us and we will measure one.

Which size fits a small wood burner?

The medium at 42 cm across and 32 cm deep holds an evening of split logs without taking the whole hearth. The small is closer to a kindling basket.
