This 27 inch black wicker storage trunk is a long, low lidded trunk in black painted willow, with black faux leather fittings and a rope handle at each end. It measures 67 x 47 x 30 cm, weighs 2.9 to 3.2 kg, and is bought for blanket storage, board games and hallway clutter.

Painted black rather than washed, so the colour sits on the surface of the rods and the weave still reads through it. The footprint is wide for the height, 67 x 47 cm against 30 cm, which lets it slide under a console table. A rope handle is set into each short end, and the buckle closure runs on black faux leather straps.

What kind of black finish is this?

It is painted willow, not a dye or a wash. The paint covers the rods, so the trunk reads as a solid black with the weave showing as texture rather than colour variation.

What do the rope handles do that woven ones do not?

They stand away from the body, so a hand goes right under them when the trunk is full. Our Buff Wicker Storage Trunk with Rope Handles uses the same arrangement in a pale finish.

Can I stand things on the lid?

The lid is woven willow over the full 67 x 47 cm top and will take light objects such as a tray or a stack of books. We would not sit on it, and we have not load tested it.

What does the lining add?

300 g, and a smooth black cotton and polyester surface inside that comes out for washing. Unlined, the inside is bare painted willow.
