This double steamed vintner hamper is an upright willow chest with a hinged lid, tan faux leather buckles and handle holes cut into the sides. Unusually for a hamper it stands taller than it is long: the small measures 39 x 29 cm and 44 cm high at 1.8 kg, the large 46 x 37 x 50 cm at 2.4 kg.

That height is the reason for it. A wine bottle stands about 30 cm, so both sizes take bottles upright with the lid shut, where a conventional hamper at 20 cm deep has to lay them on their sides. By our arithmetic the small holds around a dozen standard bottles standing and the large around twenty.

How many bottles does it actually hold?

We have worked it out from the internal dimensions rather than filling one: roughly a dozen standing in the small and roughly twenty in the large. Treat those as estimates. If the exact number matters, email us and we will load one and count.

Does it have to be used for wine?

No. It is a tall lidded willow chest, and the height that suits bottles also suits tall boxes, rolled textiles, and anything you would rather store standing than flat. The name describes the shape more than the contents.

Is the leather real?

Is it lined?

No, it is bare willow inside. Bottles and boxes are fine against the weave, but put a cloth in if you are storing anything that might catch.
