A rope handle runs along the top of this single bottle box, which is wood, dovetailed at the corners, with two metal hinges and a metal clasp. One bottle travels on its side inside it, and there is one size.

The rope handle is what separates it from a plain presentation box: filled and clasped shut, it can be carried to a dinner in one hand. Wine, whisky or a bottle of oil all suit it, and afterwards it makes a long narrow box for pens, brushes or longer tools.

FAQs

What is a dovetail joint?

Interlocking wedge-shaped fingers cut into both boards at a corner, so the two pieces hold together through their shape as well as their glue. It is the joint you find on older drawers.

Will a champagne bottle fit the 35 cm length?

A champagne bottle runs around 31 cm long and is wider at the base than a wine bottle. Length is fine; the 11 cm internal width is the figure to watch. Send us the bottle diameter and we will measure the box.

Is the wood pine?

It is wood, not specified by species. Email us and we will confirm the wood before you order.

Will the clasp hold the lid shut in a bag?

The metal clasp closes the lid against the body. It is a catch rather than a lock, so it holds the box shut in transit but will not stop someone opening it.
