Distressed pine with dovetailed corners, two metal hinges, a metal clasp and hand holds cut into each end: a six bottle wine chest with a lid. The pine is left rough rather than sanded smooth, so knocks and marks sit in with the finish rather than standing out against it.

Most wine presentation boxes are built to be thrown out once the bottles are gone. Dovetails, proper hinges and a clasp mean this one goes on working afterwards, for tools, cables, photographs or hamper contents. Keep it dry, since the hinges and clasp are metal.

FAQs

Does it come with wine?

No, the chest only. The 1.2 kg weight given above is the empty box.

Can the bottles stand upright?

No. The chest is 19 cm deep and a standard wine bottle is taller than that, so bottles go in lying down. That is the usual way a six-bottle chest is packed in any case.

Will it take anything other than wine?

It is a 37 x 27.5 cm box with a clasp, so plenty. People use them for tools, cables, photographs, board game pieces and hamper contents once the bottles have gone.

How should I look after it?

Keep it indoors and dry. The distressed finish is meant to look worn, so marks and knocks add to it rather than spoiling it, but the hinges and clasp are metal and will not thank you for damp.
