Shallow Rectangular Water Hyacinth Storage Basket
Tray-depth rather than basket-depth: water hyacinth woven over a metal frame, a border of grey twisted paper cord round the rim, handles cut into the ends. The frame holds the rectangle true. Three sizes are made, and all three are also sold together.
You look down into a basket this low rather than at it, so the grey rim frames what you see and contents stay visible rather than buried. It slides under shelves that a deeper basket will not clear. Wardrobe shelves, worktops, media units and desks all suit it. Keep the border dry and brush it.

What is the border made of?
Paper cord, twisted and dyed grey, then worked around the top edge of the weave. Look after it exactly as you would the rest of the basket: keep it dry, and brush it rather than washing it.
How does this differ from your plain shallow hyacinth basket?
The grey rim, and nothing else. Both run 9 to 12 cm deep across the same three footprints. It is a choice between a natural edge and a grey one.
Is 9 cm deep enough to be useful?
It depends what you are storing. For folded t-shirts, underwear, cables, remotes, paperwork, craft supplies or toiletries it is plenty, and the shallowness is the reason nothing gets lost underneath. For bulky items, take our mid-depth hyacinth basket at 19 to 23 cm.
Which size fits a standard shelf?
The small at 24 cm front to back and the medium at 30 cm suit most shelving. The large at 34 cm needs a deeper unit. Heights are barely an issue at 9 to 12 cm, which is the point of the range.
