A bottle box in wood under a clear varnish, with a hinged lid on metal hinges and a clasp to hold it shut. The varnish is clear rather than coloured, so the grain shows. One, two and three bottle sizes are made.

Each size up adds width only, with the bottles sitting side by side in a single row on their sides. It is built around standard wine bottles; squat and square spirit bottles vary enough in shape that some will not go in. Once the drink has gone it still holds stationery, cables or tools.

Will my bottle fit?

A standard 750 ml wine bottle will. Spirits are the ones to check: the box is 35 cm long, 10.5 cm deep and 11 cm wide per bottle, and squat or square spirit bottles vary enough that we cannot promise every one.

How does it differ from the oak effect box?

The finish only. This one is clear varnished, so the grain shows through; the oak effect box is darker and more uniform. This range also goes up to three bottles, where the oak effect stops at two.

Do the bottles stand or lie down?

They lie flat. At 10.5 cm deep the box is nowhere near tall enough for a standing bottle, which is why it is long rather than deep.

What else is it good for?

It outlasts the bottle, which is rather the point. People use them for stationery, tools, cables, photographs and keepsakes once the wine has gone.
