This domed storage hamper is a large lidded willow chest, 56 x 46 cm and rising from 30 cm at the sides to 35 cm at the centre of the lid. It weighs 2.2 kg and fastens with tan real leather buckled straps. It takes bedding, linen, blankets and out-of-season clothes.

Most storage hampers are flat-topped, because flat tops stack. This one gives that up for a lid that rises 5 cm through the middle, which is where the bulk sits when a duvet or a stack of towels is folded into a basket. The straps are real leather rather than faux, and the handle holes are cut into the weave at both ends.

Why is the lid domed?

Folded bedding is thickest through the middle of a basket and thinnest at the edges. A domed lid follows that shape instead of pressing down on it, which is the difference between the lid closing and the lid sitting proud.

What are the dimensions of the large?

We are waiting on confirmed figures from our supplier for the large and the set of two, and neither is currently in stock. Email us and we will measure one before you order.

Is the leather real?

Yes. Both straps and their buckles are tan real leather, which is unusual on a storage basket at any size and part of why this one sits at the top of the range.

Can two be stacked?

Not squarely. The dome that makes it good at holding bedding is the same thing that stops a second one sitting flat on top. It was made to stand alone at the end of a bed or on a wardrobe top.
