Why is the case so long?

Barbecue tools are long by design, to keep your hands away from the heat. At 61 cm the case takes them lying flat rather than at an angle, which is why it is shaped more like a case than a basket.

Can the tools go in the dishwasher?

The wooden handles say no. Wash them by hand and dry them before they go back in, because a damp tool in a closed willow case is how both end up marked.

Does it make a good gift?
