Shallow Rattan Storage Basket in 4 Sizes
This shallow rattan storage basket is a low woven kubu rattan basket with handles worked into the ends, in four sizes or as a set of all four. The medium measures 39 x 30 x 14 cm at 700 g; the extra large is 52 x 41 x 20 cm at 1.3 kg. Low enough to see into at a glance, wide enough to be worth filling.
Kubu rattan is soaked before weaving, which is where the soft grey comes from, and it takes a shallow shape better than willow does: the sides stay upright at 14 to 20 cm rather than bowing outwards under a load. That makes these useful on open shelving and in cupboards where a deep basket would swallow everything and a tray would hold nothing.

Which size fits a standard shelf?
The medium at 30 cm front to back suits most shelving. The large at 35 cm and the extra large at 41 cm need a deeper unit or a cupboard. Heights run 14 to 20 cm, so check the clearance above as well as the depth.
How shallow is shallow?
14 to 20 cm depending on size, which is deeper than a tray and much lower than a standard storage basket. Two or three folded towels deep, rather than a pile you have to dig through.
What are the dimensions of the small?

Is it lined?
No, these are unlined, which keeps them light and lets them be tipped out and shaken. For anything fine or loose, a folded cloth in the base does the job.
