This light steamed flat tray is a wide, shallow willow tray, 43 x 35 cm with sides just 5 cm high, weighing 400 g. It sits on a worktop, a dresser or a dining table holding condiments, post, keys and the small things that otherwise spread.

Nothing about this one is deep. Five centimetres of side keeps a bottle of oil from walking off a worktop without hiding what is on the tray, and at 43 x 35 cm it covers more surface than anything else in our tray range. Light steamed willow is the mid tone of our three finishes, warmer than buff and paler than double steamed.

How shallow is 5 cm?

About the height of a mug base. Bottles and jars stand well clear of the rim, so everything on the tray stays in view. If you want sides that contain rather than corral, look at our packaging trays at 12 to 16 cm.

Which of your flat trays is the biggest?

This one, at 43 x 35 cm. The Rectangular Flat Buff Wicker Tray is 35 x 27 cm and paler; the double steamed storage trays run 32 x 21 cm up to 39 x 30 cm.

Will it mark a polished table?

Willow is soft, but any woven base can drag grit across a finish. Lift it rather than sliding it, and give the underside a wipe now and then.

Can it carry a full tea tray?

It has no handles, so it is carried with two hands under the rim. At 400 g empty it takes a pot and cups comfortably enough, but it was made to sit rather than to travel.
