This rectangular bread display tray is woven from full double steamed willow in two sizes: 44 x 31 cm and 11 cm deep, or 51 x 36 cm and 13 cm deep. Handles lift the overall height to 17 cm and 19.5 cm, and the trays weigh 500 g and 600 g. They present loaves and pastries on a counter, and serve as a bread basket at the table.

The two woven handles rise 6 to 6.5 cm clear of the rim at each end, so a full tray can be carried from the oven side to the table without a hand going over the bread. Double steaming takes the willow to a deep brown right through the rod.

Can bread go straight onto the willow?

We have no food safety certification for these trays, so we do not sell them as food safe. Line the tray with a cloth, a paper wrap or greaseproof and the bread never touches the weave.

Medium or large for a shop counter?

The large at 51 x 36 cm takes two long tin loaves side by side. The medium at 44 x 31 cm suits rolls, baguettes cut down, or a single display of pastries.

Do the handles get in the way of a stack?

Yes. The handles stand proud of the rim at both ends, so these do not stack flat. If you need trays that sit on top of one another, look at our straight-sided willow trays.

Why is the willow so dark?

The rods are steamed twice before weaving. It darkens the willow through its thickness and leaves it a deep brown, which is why the colour does not scuff back to pale at the edges.
