This light steamed display tray is a sloped willow tray for merchandising, 36 x 28 cm, rising from 9 cm at the front to 15 cm at the back and weighing 600 g. It holds baked goods, wool, cards, magazines and packaged produce at an angle the customer can see into.

Every other tray we make sits level. This one drops 6 cm from back to front, which tips the contents towards whoever is standing at the counter instead of hiding the back row behind the front. At 36 x 28 cm it suits a till point or a shelf edge; our Double Steamed Flat Wicker Display Tray does the same job at 50 x 39 cm.

Why is the front lower than the back?

So the contents tilt towards the customer. On a counter, a level tray hides its back row; dropping the front edge to 9 cm means the whole tray is visible from standing height without anyone lifting anything.

How does it compare with your larger display tray?

Same idea, different scale. This is 36 x 28 cm in light steamed willow; the Double Steamed Flat Wicker Display Tray is 50 x 39 cm and darker. This one suits a till point, that one a full counter run.

Can I put food straight in it?

Line it with paper or cloth for anything unwrapped. Wrapped loaves, boxed goods and whole fruit sit directly in the willow without trouble.

What does light steamed mean?

Willow steamed once before weaving, which brings the colour up to a warm mid brown. It is the middle of our three finishes: paler than double steamed, darker than buff.
