This bathroom toilet roll holder is a floor-standing wicker unit with a 30 x 20 cm footprint, 35 cm to the basket rim and 50 cm to the top of the handle, at 850 g. Woven from full antique wash finish willow with a china fir handle, it keeps spare rolls to hand beside a toilet.

At 850 g it is more than twice the 400 g of our three round toilet roll holders, and its footprint is a rectangle where theirs are 17 to 18 cm circles. The china fir handle is the only wooden part; the rest is willow.

What is china fir?

A softwood, light in colour and light in weight, used here for the handle. It is the only part of the unit that is not willow.

What does the 35/50 cm measurement mean?

Two heights. The basket itself finishes at 35 cm and the handle carries on to 50 cm. Measure a shelf or a cistern against the 50 cm.

How does it differ from our round toilet roll holders?

Those are 17 to 18 cm columns at 400 g that hold three rolls in a stack. This has a 30 x 20 cm rectangular footprint and weighs 850 g, so it sits on the floor rather than on a shelf.

Will steam from a shower affect the willow?

Ordinary bathroom steam is fine. Standing water is not, so keep it off a wet floor and let it dry out if it gets splashed. The willow is unsealed under the antique wash.
