This antique wash wooden handled wicker basket is an unlined willow storage basket in four sizes, with turned wooden handles at each end. They run from 33 x 25 x 17 cm at 500 g up to 51 x 41 x 23 cm at 1.2 kg, and are sold singly, as a set of three or a set of four. Built for shelves, cupboards and open storage: toiletries, toys, stationery, folded textiles.

The wooden handles are what separate this range from the rest of our storage baskets. They stand proud of the weave, so you hook a finger under and pull the basket off a shelf, instead of feeling blindly along the side for a cut-in grip with your other arm full. The sides flare outwards from a narrower base too, giving a wide opening to reach around while keeping the basket off the front edge of a shelf.

Will they fit my shelving?

Measure depth and clear height. Front to back the baskets run 25 cm on the small up to 41 cm on the extra large, and the handles add around 3 cm to the height given in the table. On a standard 30 cm deep shelf the small leaves room to spare and the medium is an exact fit, so measure before ordering if it is going somewhere tight.

Which size do I need?

Small at 33 x 25 cm takes chargers, remotes, tea and coffee or bathroom odds and ends. Medium handles toiletries, tea towels and craft supplies. Large is the toys, hats and gloves, or stationery size. Extra large at 51 x 41 cm is for folded throws, spare bedding, or a laundry drop by a bedroom door.

Do the sets stack inside each other?

Each base is narrower than its rim, so they sit closely, but we would not promise a full nest. If that is the reason you are buying a set, email us first and we will measure one.

Why no lining?

Weight and practicality. An unlined basket is lighter to lift down from a height and can be tipped out and shaken. If you are storing something fine or powdery, a folded cloth in the base solves it.
