This wicker magazine rack is a rectangular willow basket in full double-steamed and unpeeled willow, with a divider through the middle. It is 38 x 25 x 22 cm, reaches 28 cm at the handle and weighs 800 g, holding magazines, newspapers, catalogues or household post.

A divider splits the inside in two, so magazines go in one half and newspapers in the other. The sides stand 22 cm, leaving roughly 8 cm of an A4 magazine showing above the rim.

Is the divider fixed in place?

It is part of the basket rather than a drop-in panel, so it stays where it is and both compartments keep their shape when one side is full and the other is empty.

Will A4 magazines stand up in it?

They will stand, with about 8 cm showing above the 22 cm rim, which is enough to read the spines and pull one out. That figure is worked out from a standard A4 sheet rather than measured with a magazine in place.

Why are two willows used in one basket?

Double-steamed rods give the even mid-brown and unpeeled rods, which keep their bark, give the darker flecks through it. The mix is what stops a plain rectangular basket looking flat.

Does it work anywhere other than a living room?

The divider suits anything that comes in two kinds. People use it for tea towels and cloths in a kitchen, wool and needles by a chair, or post and paperwork in a hall.
