Water Hyacinth Rectangular Basket in 3 Sizes
This water hyacinth rectangular basket is a mid-depth woven storage basket with handles worked into the ends, in three sizes or as a set of all three. The small measures 37 x 23 x 19 cm at 900 g; the large is 47 x 34 x 23 cm at 1.2 kg. It holds enough to be useful without being so deep that things disappear.
This is the middle of our hyacinth range and the size most people end up wanting. At 19 to 23 cm it takes folded towels, books, toys or shoes two or three deep, which a shallow tray cannot, while still letting you see what is in there, which a 30 cm basket does not. Woven onto a metal framework, so the rectangle stays true and the basket does not bow at the long sides when it is loaded.

Which of your hyacinth baskets should I choose?
By depth. This rectangular one is 19 to 23 cm, the middle option. The shallow rectangular basket is 9 to 12 cm, for things you want laid out flat. The square basket is 29 to 32 cm, for blankets and laundry. Lengths are similar across all three, so depth is the real decision.
Will they fit standard shelving?
The small at 23 cm and the medium at 30 cm front to back suit most shelf units. The large at 34 cm needs a deeper shelf. Heights run 19 to 23 cm, so check the clearance above as well.
Will the sides bow when full?
The weave is built onto a metal frame, which is what holds the long sides straight. It keeps its rectangular shape loaded or empty.
Does the colour vary?
Between baskets, slightly, and that is normal. Water hyacinth is a dried plant fibre, so tone shifts a little from batch to batch and pales gently with light over time.
