This boutique double steamed laundry hamper is a full willow hamper with a hinged lid, tan faux leather buckles and integral side handles, with a removable cotton lining included. The small is 39 x 29 x 44 cm at 1.95 kg and the large 46 x 37 x 50 cm at 2.6 kg. It takes laundry, linen and bedroom storage.

Double steaming is a heat treatment rather than a paint or a stain: the willow is steamed twice, which darkens the rods through rather than on the surface, so a scuff shows the same colour underneath. The tan faux leather is the warmest of the three sets of fittings in the boutique range.

What does double steamed mean?

The willow is steamed twice before weaving. Steaming draws tannin from the bark into the rod, so the colour goes through the willow rather than sitting on it. It is the darkest and warmest of our standard finishes.

How does it differ from the other boutique hampers?

Only in finish and fittings. All three are the same shell at the same sizes and weights. This is double steamed with tan faux leather; the others are white wash with white, and antique wash with grey.

Which size should I choose?

The small at 39 x 29 x 44 cm suits one or two people. The large at 46 x 37 x 50 cm takes a family's washing. The set gives you one of each, which is the usual answer where lights and darks are separated.

Does the lining come out?

Yes, on every size. It is cotton, it lifts out and it washes, then goes back once it is fully dry.
