Why do no two of these look the same?

The unpeeled willow keep their bark, and bark is never one colour along a willow. Where those willow land in the weave decides the pattern, so every basket comes out of the run slightly different.

Does the bark shed?

A little loose bark can come away in the first weeks, particularly along the rim where it gets handled. It settles down. A dry brush over the outside clears anything that has lifted.
