A small oval shopping basket in full buff willow, with the arched handle woven into the body instead of pinned to the rim. Buff willow is stripped of its bark before weaving, which is where the even pale honey colour comes from. Two sizes are made, and a set of both.

It is shallow, so it carries a layer rather than a load: garden picking, produce, laundry and table display suit it better than a weekly shop. Lift it by the handle, which is the part worked into the weave.

How does this compare with your gondola shopper?

Depth, mostly. The gondola is 40 cm deep and made for a proper shop. These are 13 and 17 cm, so they hold a single layer. They are the ones for cutting flowers, collecting eggs or carrying something to the table.

Which size should I choose?

The small at 27.5 x 22 cm is a display and picking basket. The large at 34 x 26 cm is the more practical of the two and takes a reasonable armful. The set gives you both.

Is the handle strong?

It is interwoven into the body rather than pushed in and glued, which is how a willow handle is meant to be made. Lift by the handle rather than the rim.

Can it be used outdoors?

For picking and carrying, yes. Bring it in afterwards and let it dry if it has been out in the wet. Unlined buff willow brushes out easily.
