This oak effect mini wooden storage tray is a small solid wood tray with an ear-shaped handle cut into each end, measuring 18.5 x 14.5 cm and 6.5 cm deep, or 10.5 cm to the top of the handles. It weighs 100 g. It takes trinkets, jewellery, cosmetics, craft materials and the small things that collect on a desk.

It is genuinely small, and that is the reason it works. At 18.5 x 14.5 cm it is a shade under a sheet of A5, which means it never becomes the place things go to get lost: whatever is in it is in one layer and visible from above. That makes it the tray you empty a pocket into at the end of the day, or the one that holds a child's beads and buttons while a project is half finished. The handles are cut as ears at either end rather than added on, low enough not to get in the way and wide enough for small hands to pick the whole thing up and carry it to another room.

How small is it, really?

18.5 x 14.5 cm, which is just under a sheet of A5, and 6.5 cm deep at the sides. If you are picturing something that holds a week's post or a pile of paperwork, this is not it.

Why does the height show a range?

6.5 cm is the side of the tray and 10.5 cm is the top of the ear handles. The difference matters if it is going on a shelf with something close above.

Is it real oak?

No. It is solid wood with an oak effect finish, grained and coloured to look like oak rather than cut from it.

Is it suitable for jewellery?

It is one of the commonest uses. There is no lining, so for anything delicate or easily scratched it is worth laying a cloth in the base first.
