Gaps left between the rows of weave are what openwork means, and on this rectangular willow basket a cream cotton lining sits behind them, keeping the contents out of sight. The willow has an antique wash finish, there is no lid, and rope handles are set into each end. It comes as a small, a large or the pair.
Both are long and low, so they carry between rooms with a hand at each end. Use them for washing on its way to the machine, spare towels or bedding, not as a soaking tub.

Please be aware, colours may vary slightly as our products are made from natural materials.
The process of basket weaving with willow is naturally sustainable due to the relatively quick growth of the plant fibres. The artisans use traditional weaving methods and techniques to create highly decorative, but durable, pieces.

FAQs
Why is the weave left open?
It is a decorative pattern, and it uses less willow than a closed weave, which is part of why the large comes in at 1.5 kg. The cotton liner goes in behind it so nothing shows through.
Will damp washing mark the lining?
Wet clothes left sitting will mark cotton and can leave the willow damp behind it. Use it for laundry on its way to the machine rather than as a soaking tub, and take the liner out to dry if it does get wet.
How tall is it with the rope handles?
The small is 27 cm to the rim and 34 cm to the top of the handles. The large is 33 cm to the rim and 40 cm to the handles. Our published dimensions always measure the basket first.
Is the large enough for a family wash?
At 57 x 40 cm and 33 cm deep it is the biggest laundry basket we stock, and it is the one most families end up with. Tell us your machine drum size and we will compare it against a basket here.
