This light steamed wash basket is an open oval willow basket, 64 x 51 cm across the rim on a 47 x 36 cm base, 29 cm deep and 34 cm to the top of the handles. It weighs 1.3 kg and takes a removable cotton lining in White or Garden Rose.

No lid, and that is deliberate. This is the basket that carries wet washing from the machine to the line and back, so it wants to be open at the top and light in the hand: 1.3 kg empty across a 64 cm span. The handles are cut into the weave rather than added on, so nothing protrudes to catch.

Why has it no lid?

It is a carrying basket rather than a hamper. Wet washing goes in, gets carried out and comes back; a lid would be in the way at both ends. If you want laundry out of sight, our round and corner linen baskets both have hinged lids.

Can I put wet washing straight in?

Straight out of the machine, yes, and that is what most people do. Do not leave it sitting wet for hours: willow will take damp in its stride but not standing water, and the lining wants to dry out between loads.

How much does it take?

At 64 x 51 cm and 29 cm deep it swallows a full machine load with room to carry it. It is wide rather than tall, so it sits on a worktop or a bed while you fold.

Will two stack?

They will sit inside one another when empty, since the base is narrower than the rim at 47 x 36 cm. Loaded, they are not meant to stack.
