This antique wash stair basket is a stepped wicker stair basket woven from full antique wash finish willow, shaped to stand on a staircase. It measures 42 x 26.5 x 39 cm, rises to 53 cm at the top of the fixed handle, and weighs 700 g unlined or 800 g lined. It gathers what needs to go up or down: post, folded washing, shoes and books.

Three versions are made: unlined, or with a removable garden rose or white cotton lining, which adds 100 g. Our Double Steamed Stair Basket With White Lining is the same 42 x 26.5 x 39 cm shape in a double steamed finish.

What makes it a stair basket?

The shape. It is built to stand on a staircase with the handle upright and clear of the tread above. Our supplier record carries no step angle, so if the exact geometry matters on your stairs, email us and we will measure one.

How much does a lining add?

A hundred grams, and it lifts out. The garden rose version is a cotton and polyester blend, the white version is cotton.

Does it only work on stairs?

It is shaped for a staircase and that is where it does its job. We have not stood one on a level floor for any length of time, so if you want it for a landing or a hallway, ask us first and we will try it here.

Antique wash or double steamed for a dark staircase?

Antique wash is the grey finish and double steamed the warmer brown. The basket underneath measures 42 x 26.5 x 39 cm in both, so the choice is colour alone.
