A dibber opens holes in soil and compost for seeds, seedlings and bulbs. This one is a single piece of pinewood with depth markings up the shaft, and the timber is bare, with no varnish or stain over it.
Press it in, read the depth off the shaft, and seeds and bulbs go in at the same depth down a row instead of by eye. It works in beds, borders, pots and seed trays. Wet clay closes back round a hole whatever opens it, so dig compost through heavy ground first.

FAQs
How deep can I go with it?
The dibber is 24 cm long overall, with the grip taking up part of that. Most bulbs want 10 to 15 cm, which is comfortably within reach.
Are the 2 cm markings confirmed?
The shaft carries depth markings at 2 cm intervals. Email us and we will count the graduations on one before you order.
How pointed is the tip?
A dibber is shaped to open a hole rather than to cut, so expect a taper rather than a spike. We will look at one if you ask.
Will it work in heavy clay?
Wet clay closes back around a hole whatever you make it with, and we have not tested this dibber in it. On clay soil, work compost through the bed first. Tell us your soil and we will be straight with you about whether this is the tool.
