A gloss red box is one that goes out on a nightstand, a kitchen side or a desk rather than away in a cupboard, holding jewellery, trinkets or keepsakes. It can also be filled and given as it is. Gloss paint wants a soft damp cloth; abrasive cleaners will dull it. The larger size makes the better base for a made-up gift.

Which size should I choose?

Six centimetres separate them in length and three in depth. The 12 inch at 30 x 23 x 11 cm is the jewellery and keepsake size. The 14 inch at 36 x 27 x 14 cm holds noticeably more and is the better base for a made-up gift.

Is the inside red as well?

The box is pine with a high gloss finish. If the exact shade of the interior matters for a gift, ask us before you order and we will check a box for you.

Does it lock?

No. The metal clasp keeps the lid closed, but there is no lock or key.

Will the gloss mark?

Treat it as you would any gloss paintwork. A soft damp cloth is all it needs, and abrasive cleaners or scouring pads will dull the shine.
