A wicker shopping trolley: a willow basket on wheels with a handle arching over the top, woven from full summer and unpeeled willow, the bark left on. The body draws in towards the base, and the handle stands at pulling height for an adult, so it is towed along behind rather than pushed in front.

A grocery shop, a farm shop run or a market haul comes home in it without being carried. It is unlined, so loose or wet shopping is better off in a bag inside. Unpeeled willow has nothing sealing it, so keep it indoors between trips.

What are the wheels made of?

Is it meant to be pulled or pushed?

The handle sits over the top of the basket at 78 cm, which is a pulling height for most adults. It is not a pram handle and there is nothing to push against.

Is there a weight limit?

Tell us what you want to carry and we will say whether we would put it in.

Can it live by the back door?

Only somewhere dry. Unpeeled willow is unsealed, and a basket left out in the wet will darken, swell and eventually loosen at the weave.
