This white wicker laundry hamper basket is a tall, narrow willow hamper with a hinged lid on faux leather hinges and a removable cotton lining, in two sizes or as a set of both. The small measures 38 x 25 x 50 cm at 1.2 kg; the large is 45 x 31 x 60 cm at 1.8 kg. It holds laundry, towels or general storage in a bedroom, bathroom or utility room.

The narrow footprint is what this one is for. At 25 and 31 cm front to back these are slimmer than our square hampers, which is what lets one stand in the gap between a bath and a wall, or alongside a wardrobe, without fouling a door as it opens. They are light for their height as well, 1.2 kg and 1.8 kg, so moving a full one is a matter of what is inside rather than what it is made of. The lid runs on faux leather hinges rather than being woven into the body, so it flips right back and stays open while you load it.

Which size should I choose?

The small at 38 x 25 cm and 50 cm tall is the one for a tight bathroom or a single person's washing. The large at 45 x 31 cm and 60 cm tall handles a household. The set of two is the usual answer where lights and darks get separated at source.

How does it differ from your square laundry baskets?

Footprint. The square baskets run 34 or 46 cm each way; these are 25 and 31 cm front to back, so they give up some capacity in exchange for taking much less out of a narrow room.

Is the white painted or washed?

Painted. It is a solid white rather than a wash, so the weave reads as white rather than letting the colour of the willow show through. If you want the willow visible under the colour, our white wash baskets do that instead.

Does the lining come out?

Yes, it lifts out and machine washes. Let it dry fully before it goes back in.
