This round linen basket is a full light steamed willow hamper with a hinged lid, a handle on the lid and integral handle holes in the sides. The small is 33 cm across and 50 cm tall at 1.1 kg; the large is 46 cm by 60 cm at 2.3 kg. Choose the lining in White, Garden Rose or Grey Sage.

Round costs you the corner but saves you half a kilo. The small here is 1.1 kg against 1.6 kg for the corner basket at the same height, because a quarter-round has more wall to weave than a circle of the same floor area. The lid carries its own handle, so it lifts cleanly rather than being prised at the rim.

Round or corner?

Take the round if it is going against a flat wall or beside a bath, and the corner if you have an unused corner to fill. The round is the lighter of the two and the corner uses space you were not using anyway.

What does the handle on the lid do?

It gives you something to take hold of, so the lid comes up without anyone hooking a finger under the rim and pulling on the weave. On a basket opened twice a day that is worth having.

Which size holds a wash load?

The large at 46 cm across and 60 cm tall takes a full load with the lid still closing. The small at 33 cm suits a single person, an ensuite, or sorting whites from colours alongside a second basket.

Is it only for laundry?

Plenty go out as blanket boxes and toy stores. The lining is what makes it work for either, since it keeps woollens and soft toys off bare willow.
