These round lined wicker log baskets are woven from full antique wash willow with a hessian lining, in four sizes from 24.5 cm across and 21.5 cm deep up to 51 cm across and 41 cm deep. Weights run 300 g to 1.7 kg, and handle heights from 26.5 cm to 49 cm. They take logs and kindling by a wood burner, and hold blankets and towels elsewhere.

The lining here is hessian, not plastic, which is why these hold a plant only in its own pot. Hessian is the coarsest fabric we line with and it catches bark and splinters. Each size narrows towards the base, from 24.5 cm down to 18 cm on the small.

Can I plant into one of these?

No. The lining is hessian, which is a loose jute weave and holds neither soil nor water. Stand a potted plant inside it on a saucer instead, or look at our plastic-lined rattan planters.

Which size sits beside a wood burner?

The large at 38 cm across and 33 cm deep takes an evening of logs without dominating the hearth. The extra large at 51 cm is a two or three day basket and needs the floor space to match.

Is the hessian fixed in?

It is stitched to the rim rather than dropped in loose, so it stays put when logs are dragged out. Brush it down or vacuum it rather than putting it in a machine.

Is this a planter?

It is a lined log and storage basket rather than a planter, and our supplier lists it as one.
