This round antique wash wicker planter comes in two sizes: 25 cm across on a 20 cm base at 10 cm deep, and 41 cm across on a 35 cm base at 13 cm deep. Handle height takes them to 14 cm and 18 cm, and they weigh 200 g and 400 g. Both carry a plastic lining and hold a potted plant.

These are shallow: 10 cm and 13 cm, which our supplier classes as a display tray, not a planter. A 41 cm width on a 13 cm depth spreads several small pots side by side instead of holding one deep root ball, and the plastic lining catches water running off a pot base.

Is 10 cm deep enough for a plant?

Not for planting into. It is deep enough to hide a 9 cm or 12 cm nursery pot up to its rim on the small, and to stand three or four of them together on the large.

What does the plastic lining actually stop?

Water running off a pot base, and grit from compost. It does not make the basket waterproof to the brim and there is no drainage hole, so pour off anything that collects.

How is this different from your rattan planters?

Depth. The Grey Rattan Round Planter is 27 cm to 34 cm deep and takes a full plant. This one is 10 cm to 13 cm and is really a lined display tray with handles.

Will the antique wash rub off?

It is a finish applied to the willow rather than a paint sitting on top, so it wears evenly rather than chipping. It will lighten in strong daylight over the years.
