This deluxe fitted wicker hamper is a light steamed willow hamper with real tan leather buckles and a suitcase handle, for two people or four, in classic cream or green tweed. The 2 person measures 38 x 38 x 21 cm at 4.3 kg; the 4 person is 58 x 38 x 22 cm at 6.6 kg. Both include porcelain plates, wine glasses, stainless steel mugs, cutlery, napkins, a wine opener, salt and pepper shakers, a PVC lined cooler, a cloth bottle duffle, a fleece picnic blanket and a stainless steel flask.

The flask and the steel mugs are what separate this from every other hamper we make. The rest of the range assumes a warm afternoon and packs accordingly; this one will do a cold touchline, a bonfire night or a walk in February just as readily, because there is somewhere to carry hot tea and something to drink it from. The mugs travel in woven baskets of their own rather than loose among the plates, the cloth duffle keeps the bottle away from the crockery, and the handle is a suitcase handle rather than a woven one, which is the right decision at 6.6 kg.

Which size should I choose?

The 2 person is square at 38 x 38 cm and 4.3 kg; the 4 person is 58 cm long and 6.6 kg. Both are packed heavily for their size because of everything that goes in them, so this is a hamper that travels from a car rather than down a long footpath. If you want something to carry any distance, one of our classic hampers is the better answer.

What makes it deluxe rather than fitted?

Four things our other hampers do not carry: a stainless steel flask, steel mugs in their own baskets, a cloth bottle duffle and a fleece blanket. It is the only hamper we make that is properly equipped for cold weather as well as warm.

Classic cream or green tweed?

The basket and the fittings are the same. The difference is the lining and trim: cream is the traditional look, green tweed matches the rest of our tweed range.

How does it compare with your fitted green tweed hamper?

The 4 person uses the same 58 x 38 cm shell, but this one adds the flask, the mugs and the bottle duffle on top of the usual settings, which is why it weighs 6.6 kg against 5.9.
