This small antique wash wicker wreath ring measures 34 cm across and 4 cm deep, and weighs 300 g. Full willow rods are wound around a chipwood core, and it arrives plain, ready to dress as a willow wreath base for an internal door.

The core is chipwood, so the circle holds without a metal frame inside it. Winding the rods leaves gaps along the band that take a stem or florist wire. Our supplier lists the same ring at 37 cm and 49 cm across, both 8 cm deep against the 4 cm here.

What is chipwood?

Thin shavings of wood pressed into a form, used here as the core the willow is wound around. It gives the ring its round shape and most of its 300 g.

Is it decorated at all?

No. It comes as bare willow with nothing added, which is why people buy it as a base and build on it.

Can I wire foliage onto it?

Yes. Florist wire passes through the wound rods easily enough, and the chipwood core gives it something to bite against.

Are the bigger rings the same thickness?

No. Our supplier lists the 37 cm and 49 cm rings at 8 cm deep, twice the 4 cm band on this one, so they are noticeably chunkier.
