This antique wash waste paper bin is a round willow bin with no lid, 28 cm across the top and 28 cm tall, weighing 300 g. It takes waste paper in a living room, bedroom or office, and doubles as storage for kindling, magazines or a rolled throw.

As wide as it is tall is an unusual proportion for a bin: 28 cm either way gives roughly 17 litres, which is generous for waste paper and the reason it gets used for more than paper. There is no liner, so paper and dry waste only, and at 300 g it lifts out from under a desk with one hand.

How much does it hold?

Roughly 17 litres, worked out from the 28 cm diameter and 28 cm depth rather than measured with water, so treat it as approximate. That is a fair bit larger than a typical office bin.

Does it come with a liner?

No. It is bare willow inside, so it suits paper, packaging and dry waste. A bin bag will fold over the rim if you want one, though it will show against the weave.

Can I put food waste or anything wet in it?

No. Unlined willow will stain and eventually soften, and it cannot be washed out. Keep it to dry waste.

What else do people use it for?

Kindling by a fire, magazines, rolled newspapers, or umbrellas and walking sticks. Be realistic about the opening: 28 cm across will not take a sofa cushion, and a full blanket is a squeeze, though a rolled throw goes in.
