Seagrass, twisted into cord and woven around a wooden frame, makes up this small rectangular basket. The frame runs inside the weave and holds the square edges true. Three sizes are made, small, medium and large, each sold on its own or all three together as a set.

They are small baskets, for a shelf rather than a floor: toys, magazines, chargers or bathroom bits where a full-size basket will not fit. The three sit inside one another when only one is out.

FAQs

Is seagrass the same as water hyacinth?

No. Seagrass grows in salt water and is twisted into a fine cord; water hyacinth is a freshwater plant whose stems are dried flat and plaited. Our water hyacinth baskets are a separate range.

Can I feel the wooden frame through the weave?

A wooden frame runs under the seagrass, and it is what holds the square edges. Ask us and we will look at one and tell you what you can feel.

What can you tell me about how it is sourced?

The seagrass is a fast-growing crop. Our suppliers are SEDEX approved.

Is the set of 3 one of each size?

Yes: 24 x 19 x 16 cm, 29 x 22.5 x 18 cm and 34 x 26 x 20 cm, 2.4 kg for the three.
