The rim runs low along the long sides and lifts at the two ends, so the basket dips through the middle and the contents show. It is a small oval in full and split buff willow, painted white, with an arched handle fixed over the top.

There is very little to it empty, so a child of three or four can carry it loaded. Eggs, confetti, a posy or odds and ends on a dressing table are the usual contents. The paint sits on the surface, so knocks at the rim will in time show the willow.

Is the rim level all the way round?

No, and that is how it is made. The long sides sit at 9.5 cm and the two ends rise to 11.5 cm, so the basket dips in the middle and the contents show.

Will the white finish chip?

The paint sits on the surface of the willow, so knocks along the rim will eventually show the wood underneath. Most people find it settles into the look rather than spoiling it. Touching it up with a white emulsion tester pot works.

Is it small enough for a toddler?

It is the smallest basket in our shopper range, 18 x 16 cm and 75 g empty, with the handle 17 cm up. A child of three or four can carry it loaded without help.

How does it compare with your other mini shoppers on size?
