This 2 person green tweed barrel hamper is a light steamed wicker picnic hamper, 40 cm long and 28 cm across, 42 cm to the top of the handle, weighing 2.9 kg. It has a green tweed interior, tan real leather straps, and carries porcelain plates, wine glasses, cutlery, a bottle opener and a cooler bag.

The barrel shape is what marks it out: round in section rather than flat-bottomed, with a double hinged lid that opens either side of a central handle, so it is carried like a case. At 2.9 kg empty it is heavier than the blue tweed hamper at 2.3 kg and the chiller hamper at 1.9 kg.

Why a barrel shape?

It carries differently. A round section sits against the leg rather than flat against it, and the double lid means you open one half at a time with the handle still in your hand. It is also the reason this hamper looks like nothing else in the range.

Is the leather real?

Yes, tan real leather rather than faux, which is what most of our picnic hampers use. It will mark and soften with use.

Does the cooler bag come out?

Yes. It is 25 x 16 x 16 cm and removable, so it can be chilled in the fridge and dropped in on the day.

Will it stand up on its own?

Yes. It is a barrel in section but it is built with a flat base to stand on, so it does not roll.
