This 14 inch fitted wicker picnic hamper is an antique wash willow hamper fitted out for two, measuring 36 x 26 x 15 cm and weighing 1.5 kg, or 1.6 kg with the chiller. It comes with two 7 inch porcelain plates, two sets of white handled cutlery, a bottle opener and a cotton lining.

This is the small fitted hamper, and the contents list is shorter than our larger ones: plates, cutlery and an opener, with no glasses. That leaves most of the 36 x 26 cm free for food. The chiller version adds a removable cooler bag with its own carrying handle, so cold things travel separately and come out with the bag.

FAQs

Does it include glasses?

No. This is the two person size, and it carries plates, cutlery and a bottle opener only. Our larger fitted hampers add wine glasses, napkins and salt and pepper.

Is the chiller worth it?

It depends on how far you are going. The cooler bag lifts out and has its own handle, so it can be packed at home and carried separately, or filled and dropped into the hamper on the day. If the picnic is in the garden, the plain version is enough.

How much food will it hold?

The fittings take up less room here than in a larger hamper because there are fewer of them, so most of the 36 x 26 cm interior stays free. It suits lunch for two rather than a spread.

How should I look after it?

Wash the plates and cutlery as normal, wipe the cooler out, and let the willow dry fully before it goes away. The cotton lining lifts out.
