Two willow handles are woven into the rim itself on this tall rectangular log basket, not added once the weaving was done. The basket is full antique wash willow, straight sided, and the removable lining is hessian, a coarse jute cloth woven tightly enough to hold bark and dust inside. One size, no lid.

The height suits logs and kindling beside a wood burner, and it does the same job for shoes, magazines or craft materials. Because the liner lifts straight out, it can be shaken down over a bin between fills.

Does it hold its shape once it is full of logs?

Pick it up full and you will feel the difference from a cheap basket, which bows at the sides and flexes at the rim. This one is 1.5 kg of willow before anything goes in it, woven on a rectangular base, and it holds its shape.

Is the 48 cm measurement with or without the handles?

Without. The body of the basket is 48 cm tall and the figure rises to 52 cm measured to the top of the handles. Every dimension we publish is the basket itself.

Can the hessian be taken out and put back?

Yes. It sits inside the basket and folds over the rim, so you can pull it out to empty it and drop it back in afterwards.
