Double Steamed Wicker Basket with Cotton Lining
Double steaming gives this rectangular storage basket its deep reddish brown: the willow is steamed twice before weaving, which draws the tannin through rather than laying colour on top. Handles are cut into the weave at each end and a white cotton lining drops inside. Four sizes, singly or as a set.
Nothing protrudes at the ends, so they pull in and out of shelving: the smaller two fit standard units, the larger two want a cupboard. Folded clothes in a wardrobe, toys in a playroom, odds and ends on an open shelf: the lining lifts out to wash.

Which size fits standard shelving?
The small at 19 cm and the medium at 25 cm front to back suit most shelf units. The large and extra large, at 30 and 34 cm deep, need a deeper shelf or a cupboard. Heights run 17 to 23 cm, so check the gap above the shelf too.

The willow is steamed twice before it is woven. That draws the tannins through the willow and darkens them to a reddish brown, so the colour runs through the material rather than sitting on top as a stain would.
Does the lining come out?
