This square rattan serving basket is a shallow table top basket woven from kubu grey rattan, with handles worked into the sides. It measures 45 x 45 cm and is 10 cm deep, weighing 900 g empty. It is used for condiments, cutlery and napkins when people come round, and for remotes and post on a coffee table.

Does food need a plate or a cloth under it?

Yes. We hold no food contact certificate for this basket. Serve from a board, a plate or a napkin sitting inside it and the rattan stays clean.

How do I get crumbs out of the weave?

Turn it upside down and shake it, then run a dry brush over the inside. Rattan is unsealed, so keep water out of it.

How does it compare with your Grey Rattan Square Storage Basket?

That one is 33 x 33 cm and 30 cm deep at 1 kg, built to hold things upright. This covers a much bigger 45 x 45 cm but only 10 cm of it, so things lie flat and stay in view.

Is it all right in a steamy bathroom?

We would keep it out of one. Rattan is unsealed and repeated steam will soften the weave over time. A dry shelf or a table is where it belongs.
