This square rattan laundry basket is a lidded wicker laundry hamper woven from kubu grey split rattan, with a removable blacu cotton lining and a top handle on the lid. The small measures 37 x 37 x 58 cm and weighs 2 kg; the large is 42 x 42 x 62 cm at 3 kg. Both are sold singly or as a set of two.

Split rattan is the difference here. Splitting the cane before weaving gives a flatter, tighter surface than round rattan, which is why this reads as a smoother basket up close and why nothing catches on clothing going in or out. The lid is detached rather than hinged, so it lifts clear when you are loading with both arms full, and the blacu lining is unbleached cotton, undyed and washable.

Which size do I need?

What is blacu cotton?

Unbleached, undyed cotton, left close to its natural colour. It is a plain, hard-wearing cloth, and the lining lifts out so it can go in the wash.

Is the lid attached?

No, it is a detached lid with a handle on top. That means it lifts clear when you are loading with both arms full, though it does need somewhere to sit while the basket is open.

Will it mark clothes?

The lining is there to prevent it. Split rattan gives a flatter inner surface than round cane, and with the cotton lining in place nothing touches the weave.
