This luxury rattan dog sofa bed is a woven kubu rattan dog bed with a zipped, wipeable cushion, in three sizes. The small measures 56 x 46 x 26 cm and weighs 3.7 kg; the medium is 77 x 57 x 32 cm at 5.6 kg. Both have a lowered front lip of 8 cm so a dog can step in rather than climb.

The 8 cm front lip is what makes it a sofa rather than a basket. Three raised sides give a dog something to lean against, which most of them want, while the low front means older or shorter-legged dogs get in without a scramble. The cushion cover is a polyester and cotton mix, zipped and wipeable, so it comes off when a muddy walk goes wrong.

What size dog does each bed suit?

Measure your dog nose to tail while lying stretched out and add a few centimetres. The small has a 56 x 46 cm footprint, which suits a terrier or a spaniel curled up; the medium at 77 x 57 cm takes a collie or a labrador. The internal space is a little less than the external figures, because of the thickness of the weave.

Does the cushion come off?

Yes. The cover is zipped and removable, and the polyester and cotton mix wipes clean, which matters more with a dog bed than with anything else we sell.

Will a dog chew the rattan?

A determined chewer will chew anything. This is a woven natural material, so it suits dogs past the chewing stage rather than a teething puppy.
