Sold as packaging, this double steamed willow hamper has a hinged lid, black faux leather buckles and three sizes, each unlined or with a removable red, blue, black or white lining. The smallest is full willow; the two larger sizes are split willow, a finer, flatter weave at less weight.

Handle holes are worked into the ends of the smallest and the largest. These go out as gift and food hampers, retail display, and boxes for chocolates, cheese or jewellery. The largest is deep enough for a mixed hamper with bottles; the two smaller sizes are shallower.

What is the difference between full and split willow?

Split willow is cut lengthways before weaving, which gives a finer, flatter weave. Full willow uses the full length of willow. The 14 inch here is full willow and the two larger sizes are split, so the 18 inch is lighter for its size than you might expect.

Which size for a food hamper?

The 18 inch at 46 x 30 x 19 cm is the usual choice for a mixed food hamper with bottles. The 14 and 15 inch, at 14 to 15 cm deep, suit chocolates, cheeses and smaller luxury goods.

Does the lining come out?

Yes. The Red, Blue, Black and White linings are removable cotton or a cotton and polyester mix, and add 50 to 100 g.
