Full buff willow, boiled with the bark on and then stripped, which gives the even light brown. Double real leather straps close it, and rope handles are fixed through the weave at both ends. It comes in 24 inch and 28 inch, with white, navy, grey sage or black lining optional.

Long and low is the reason to buy it: the right height for the end of a bed or under a window, where a tall hamper looks wrong. Seasonal clothes, bedding, towels and toys all go in. Take the lining for clothes, so nothing catches on the weave.

Which size should I choose?

Ten centimetres separate them in length, another ten in width and five in height, which adds up to a good deal more room in the 28 inch. Take the 24 inch at 62 x 40 cm if it has to sit in a defined gap, at the end of a bed in a smaller room or under a window. The 28 inch at 72 x 50 cm is the one for bedding and winter duvets.

Do I need the lining?

No, it is optional. Unlined gives you bare willow inside, which is fine for blankets, towels and bedding. The cotton lining is worth having for clothes, where you would rather nothing caught on the weave, and it comes out for washing.

Is the leather real?

Yes, double real leather straps rather than a coated or printed imitation. They will darken and soften with handling the way any leather does.

Can I sit on it or stand things on it?

We would not sell it as seating. It is a woven willow trunk, so use it for storage, and put a tray on top if you want to stand a lamp or a cup of tea there.
