This antique wash wicker log basket is an oval willow storage basket with a removable hessian lining. It measures 40 x 31 x 40 cm, stands 48 cm to the top of the handle, weighs 1.5 kg empty, and holds split logs, kindling, rolled blankets or indoor plant pots.

The lining lifts out of this one, so it can be shaken down outdoors and put back without fixings. Its height matches its length at 40 cm, so logs will stand on end in it. Our Small Oval Log Basket keeps the same 40 cm height on a 33 x 24.5 cm footprint.

Does the hessian lining come away from the willow?

Yes. Our supplier records it as a removable lining, so you can pull it out, shake it down outside and drop it back in. Nothing is stitched or stapled through the weave.

Will logs stand upright inside it?

The internal depth is close to 40 cm, which is enough for most split logs to stand on end. Longer cut lengths will need to lie at an angle.

What separates this from the Small Oval Log Basket?

Height is the same at 40 cm. This one has a 40 x 31 cm rim against the small one at 33 x 24.5 cm, and weighs 1.5 kg against 900 g.

Is 48 cm the figure I should measure my alcove against?

Only if you want the handle standing proud. The basket body is 40 cm tall; the extra 8 cm is the handle arch above the rim.
